Rabbi Jesse Charyn
Rabbi Jesse Charyn is a speaker, teacher, director, chaplain, outdoor enthusiast, and dedicated Jewish leader. Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, he attended Young Judaea’s Year Course program in Israel after high school. Following this, Rabbi Jesse made aliyah and served in the IDF Golani Special Forces from 2003-2006.
Rabbi Jesse has a strong connection to Israel, having staffed numerous Birthright trips and serving as a Birthright Fellow. His postgraduate studies include the Ziegler School for Rabbinic Studies, the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, the Conservative Yeshiva, and Arizona State University. Rabbi Jesse’s greatest accomplishment is being a husband to his wife Shira and an Aba to their daughters Rayna, Navah, and Zivah.
Before coming to Bet Shira, Rabbi Jesse served as the Director of Spiritual Care at Miami Jewish Health, providing programming and events focused on the spiritual needs of residents and staff. Most recently, he served as the spiritual leader of Temple Beth David in Snellville, GA. Rabbi Jesse has also volunteered as a chaplain with the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Rabbi Jesse is proud to lead Bet Shira Congregation, where he continues to inspire and uplift the community with his dedication, compassion, and profound love for Jewish life and learning.
