Rabbi Jesse Charyn

Rabbi Jesse Charyn is a speaker, teacher, director, chaplain, outdoor enthusiast, and dedicated Jewish leader. Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, following high school graduation he attended Young Judaea’s Year Course program in Israel. After completing his gap year program, Rabbi Jesse made aliya and served in the IDF Golani Special Forces from 2003-2006.

Rabbi Jesse has a strong relationship to Israel, having staffed numerous Birthright trips and as a Birthright Fellow. Rabbi Jesse’s postgraduate studies include the Ziegler School for Rabbinic Studies, the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, the Conservative Yeshiva, and Arizona State University. Rabbi Jesse’s greatest accomplishment is being a husband to his wife Shira of 12 years and an Aba to daughters Rayna (age 4) and twins Navah and Zivah (age 23 months).

Before coming to Bet Shira, Rabbi Jesse served as the Director of Spiritual Care at Miami Jewish Health where he provided programming and events that focused on lifting up and catering to the spiritual needs of residents and staff. Most recently, Rabbi Jesse served as the spiritual leader of Temple Beth David in Snellville, GA. Rabbi Jesse has also served as a volunteer chaplain with the Gwinnett County Police Department.
