Preschool Programs

Infants and Toddlers

Our Infant and Toddler Room is dedicated to babies from 3 to 18 months and operates from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Our nurturing teachers and staff have specialized training in child development techniques that emphasize eye contact, holding, talking, singing, and plenty of nurturing. Pediatric CPR and First Aid training ensure that your newborn or toddler will be safe and loved while away from home.

18 to 24 months (Playgroup)

Our Playgroup, for 18-24-month-olds, is the first opportunity for young children to interact with each other in a structured group setting. Our teachers present activities that allow children to parallel play, learn to share, and to cooperate with each other. Expressive language skills, vocabulary, curiosity, and social roles are developed at this age, along with plenty of running, jumping, and playground time!

Two Year-Olds

At this age, your child strives to be independent and wants to do more on their own. Activities such as using the toilet, dressing, washing hands, hygiene, eating, cleanliness, and organization are implemented. Motor, sensory skills, and hand-eye coordination are developed. Peer group communication and the dynamics of a classroom are also developed, as are comprehension, vocal, and literacy skills.

Three Year-Olds

At three, verbal language, personal identity, and independence are further developed with an emphasis on a daily routine. Communication with and interaction between other children fosters detailed conversations and experiential learning. Individual interests and personal experiences are openly shared. Expressiveness and creativity through art, painting, drawing, and clay are integrated with the development of divergent thinking and problem-solving skills.

Pre-Kindergarten and VPK

At this stage, the basic reading, writing, and math skills are further developed with an emphasis on preparing your child for Kindergarten. Letter recognition, sounds, writing, and drawing are more detailed. Math concepts and comparison of objects, size, color, and shapes along with basic knowledge of days, months, seasons, and various holidays are taught. Creativity, imagination, and curiosity fuel the transition to complex thinking and analysis.

Religious Activities

Sharing a campus with Bet Shira’s synagogue, Bet Shira Preschool incorporates Jewish traditions and values in its curriculum. Open to all faiths and communities, Bet Shira will include all children in age-appropriate learning and fun surrounding Jewish holidays and traditions, with Hebrew language and song. We follow the Jewish calendar and have holiday and Shabbat activities with our children and our families.

Mini Camps

At Bet Shira, we have mini-camps when school is not in session. Winter Break mini-camps will take place in December. Those mini-camps are structured as camps and we break away from classroom learning to other types of activities and play. Open for our children enrolled who are already enrolled in the Preschool as well as anyone else interested.
