A letter from our rabbi
Dear Bet Shira Congregation,
Karina, Ariela, Leora and I cannot wait to join you at Bet Shira on July 1. We were very impressed with the congregation when we visited in March and are looking forward to hitting the ground running.
I became a rabbi out of my interest in people, my passion for Jewish life and my desire to help Judaism blossom, flourish and grow within a community. My rabbinic vision is premised on Every Member Counts. I actively seek to know my congregants’ interests and passions as well as their hopes and dreams and partner with them to bring them into fruition. In addition, I work on a daily basis towards ensuring that everyone is welcome and appreciated for who s/he is and what s/he brings to the congregational family. Relational Judaism is a core value of mine.
My interests include running, hiking and reading (especially history). I am a believer in Judaism without Walls and am excited to bring programs to Bet Shira such as my Schechter award-winning Hiking and Halacha as well as Shabbat on the Beach.
I will gladly make time to meet with anyone who would like to meet to hear why you chose to be part of the Bet Shira family as well as how Bet Shira can have an even greater impact on your life in the coming year. Please reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Just be aware that I might recruit you to chair a committee ;).
Looking forward to seeing you soon.
Rabbi Ben Herman
