Dear Bet Shira Members:
As you know, Bet Shira depends on membership dues to be able to provide the services its members want and have come to expect. In order for Bet Shira to continue to provide those services, and to avoid having a financial deficit for the year, it is important that all members pay their dues to their best ability.
Bet Shira does not turn anyone away as members due to an inability to pay full dues. That is why Bet Shira has a dues review policy, approved by the Board of Directors, to allow those truly in need of financial assistance to pay reduced dues. The Board of Directors is obliged to ensure the financial health of the synagogue. Those who can afford to pay full dues are required to do so. And those who cannot are accommodated through the dues review process.
Under this process, if you are seeking an adjustment of your dues, you must within thirty (30) days complete the enclosed financial adjustment request and send it confidentially to Aileen Lafont, along with the first and second pages of your most recently filed personal tax return, W-2, 1099, or K-1 forms. Your request will be reviewed and you will be notified of the dues adjustment to which you are entitled based on this paperwork. If you disagree with the decision, there is an appeal process. Please know that this entire process is confidential and all of your paperwork and financial information will be kept in the strictest of confidence.
